NZMac.com is a website dedicated to supporting the New Zealand Macintosh community. It includes the latest New Zealand Macintosh news, discussion forums, international news and reviews. Through the use of discussion forums, buy/sell areas, NZ news, user blogs, events and information with a specific New Zealand flavour, NZMac.com provides a web site that Mac users in New Zealand look to as their main source of all things Macintosh.

Who and what is the story behind NZMac.com?
Initially launched on January 1st, 2003 by Philip Roy (www.bluengrey.com), the site had been a long time in the making. Throughout the course of 2002, Philip began to mull over the idea of developing a web site for New Zealand Mac users. It was only in late 2002 that he was able to put in a lot (and he means a lot!) of hours into developing the site and getting it up and running.

As well as being a freelance web and multimedia developer, Philip works part-time for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Massey University, as their E-Learning Facilitator. With a background in teaching, he was recognised as a Flexible Learning Leader in New Zealand in 2004. Philip also wrote the multimedia section of New Zealand Macguide Magazine until the demise of the print publication in late 2007.

Philip comments ...

With the arrival on our doorsteps of NZ Macguide in early 2002, it was clear that there was a lively and creative Macintosh community within New Zealand. You saw them at the Apple presentations, you read their comments in newsgroups, and through my association with Macguide (until its demise), I have begun to meet more and more of these talented people or read about them. Like me, they all share one (almost obsessive) love...Apple Macs.

On launching the site, I commented that I would always see it as a "work in progress". I intend now (as I did then) for the site to grow and evolve as more NZ Mac users make use of it and possibly contribute to it.

The ultimate aim of NZMac.com is to support the New Zealand Macintosh community. If I can further promote the activities of Mac users around NZ and bring groups of enthusiast together, then I believe it's a great start.

I hope you enjoy and make use of this site. Feel free to leave comments in the NZMac.com Forum or drop me a note, as your comments are always appreciated.

Regards,

Philip Roy
