I was fortunate to be visiting my parents in california, landing on the day the iPhone was released in the US. I couldnt get into the Apple Store however as it was shutdown only for iPhone sales and the line went into the parking lot of a huge mall. A couple of days later i got to play with one in store which included calling my dads mobile and sending him a sms, what is amusing is that when sending an sms like it says on all the videos about it, it creats an iChat type messaging window. My dad made the mistake of responding which meant for the next couple of days he got about 30 messages from other people playing with the phone in the apple store - Malcj

Having seen the iPhone in action this weekend, I was mesmerised by its performance. The speed it renders pages, and zooms through the resolution changes is amazing. Same with the navigation through various apps. Now the wait is on for the 3G/HSDPA version to be released here.
The phone showed Vodafone signal, but would not connect. - MattD

One thing to note when it comes to the iPhone downunder is that the speeds of Internet browsing should be far better than the current iPhone. The next version (the one aimed at Europe) will be 3G. To which chipset it will support I am not sure but if they go HSDPA you will get very good speeds from it as HSDPA access will give you around current rates (1Mbs) which is going to make it very swanky.

While many people think the maps feature is going to be a have I can tell you now that for my job maps will be awesome. Currently I use Google Maps when I have to go to a home user job (most of our customers are corporates but as we are contractors for Acer we do do home users every so often) I don't always know where I'm going. Google Maps on the iPhone will be a life saver. - lowededwookie

Sony Z600...at least a couple of years old. I wouldn't worry about man thumbs...many with bigger digits than me used it well. Keep an eye out for the video here in the next couple of days. - Philip Roy

Hi , Thanks for that phone test.
The main reason I have not got a new phone yet is that they are too small and I struggle with my man thumbs !
Ironically your sony looks to have good size buttons !
What model is this please ? Maybe that will do me for a year of no iphone ! - nanomouse
