I found now since the 10.5.2 update was installed, now my usb devices dot shutdown , I have to hold the power button in to power all of my external usb drives otherwise its like in sleep state.

thinking of going back to the before update as it DID work, but not now..... - whitty

Software update in both cases. There was also an iLife update too that was picked up separate. I think that actually showed up the next day, ie not the day 10.5.2 was released.
Both machines new over Christmas and both with all updates loaded - irncpl

Mine was a 341Mb download the graphics update from Software Update and my machine had every update previous.

I'm wondering if it also included the iLife update because since the update it keeps saying that my machine is up to date but there's been reports of an iLife update (unless it was only for Tiger users). - lowededwookie

Sorry I may be wrong then. But one final check..when you say that, did you use "Software Updates" or go here... http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/

The reason I ask is that they've really hidden the non-combo update well. Also were the Macs as up-to-date with everything? I've done both my Macs via SU and had 180 the 48 Mb both times....on an Intel MBP and a G5 iMac. - Philip Roy

I've updated a Macbook and an iMac2.4, both pulled down the 340 Mb AND the graphics update. What's even more annoying is that although I selected to install and keep the packages, they weren't! I'm now bringing them down direct from the Apple site to save and keep. - irncpl

I'm pretty sure I was on 10.5.1 but now I can't check as I have done the update. (but ether way I have to download the combo so I can use the one file for all of the Mac computer here :) ) - adriel

Sounds to me like you either have downloaded or have to install the combo? Sure you were on 1.5.1 and not 10.5 ? - Philip Roy

30 minutes on from 10.5.2 and the Google Notifier for my NZMac.com account is no longer crashing out of the menu bar, and Safari (that seems to have had a huge problem with our University firewall) seems to working well again ;D - Philip Roy
