NZ Apple Store for Education 1 Year, 8 Months ago
It occured to me this morning to check if, along with Apple Store for New Zealand, we'd also gained an Apple Store for Education for New Zealand, and sure enough, there does seem to be that option on the Apple Store.

However... not everything's cheaper. Among the list of items you're allowed to buy if you're eligible to purchase through the store is:

# iSight: One (1) may be purchased per academic year

but the pricing seems to be the same as the normal NZ Apple Store - NZ$269, and that price sounds reminiscent of what it was before the arrival of the Apple Store for New Zealand

Yes, you are right, and this is consistent with Apple's policy in other countries. In most cases, the entry level units are priced quite nicely with the education discounts, and then the discount tapers off for high-end models and for special items. Shoppers need to be quite selective.
