Been messing around CrossOver for Mac.

It runs basic Steam apps (Half Life) without any problems
It mostly runs Half Life 2, but all the in game video screens are missing
Serious Sam works great.
As does Quake 3A.

Not sure I'd pay 60 bucks for it, but playing Windows games without Windows native under Mac OS X is one neat trick. Based on Wine.

Another positive development is Cider
www.transgaming.com/index.php?module=Con...=display&ceid=24
which could allow developers to expand the range of games available for Mac. They would have to build it in though, I don't think it is something we could add as customers to run windows games. And I think it is intel Mac only.

The only way to reliably run Windows games is via Windows under BootCamp.

Parallels and VMWare are working on hardware acceleration but this could take months and is something that hasn't really been worked on at all until Parallels came on the scene (remember this could have been done already as VMWare and Virtual PC have been around for donkey's years on Intel machines).

TransGaming is the way of the future for porting but CrossOver is something that is a little behind the mark.
