Apple TV and NZ ISPs? 1 Week, 5 Days ago
Hi there
I've had an AppleTV for about 5 months and generally love it......but my ISP is Woosh and apparently because they use a proxy server I can't update my AppleTV software, access movie trailers, YouTube etc, or play stuff I've purchased from the iTunes store with it.
I'm at the point where I'm ready to ditch Woosh and go with an ISP that definitely supports AppleTVs.
Can anyone else tell me what ISP they use that works well with AppleTV?
Thanks heaps.

Hmm an ISP making their customers use a proxy server? that's pretty crazy - haven't encountered that before.

I use IHUG straight out - no proxy servers or anything. Dont have problems with accessing itunes or youtube etc etc.

I'm on Orcon and have no problems. Orcon also has a really great Mac orientated support although they weren't able to help with one issue I had but I managed to sort that out myself.

No proxies on Orcon either although I can't even remember setting up proxies on Woosh either when we were contracted by them to do installs. Mind you that was a couple of years ago now.

A reminder that Orcon gives you $30 credit if you use the "NZMAC" code when joining. If it doesn't work during the sign up (they're changing systems at the moment) just email me your new account name (philip.roy@nzmac.com).

xnet are the best as they run a local Akamai server meaning all downloads from Apple, iTunes, Apple TV, etc. are free local traffic and fast.
