Google Desktop Quitting in OSX 5 Months, 1 Week ago
I recently acquired a nzmac.com email address and then decided it would be useful to install Google Desktop. It is great to use and I'd like to keep it but I've started to get regular messages saying that it has Quit unexpectedly. I then Send a Report but I'm wondering what the problem is and if it would be best to get rid of the program altogether using AppDelete (what a great little application this is, thank you lowededwookie!.)

You've posted in he 10.4 area, so I'm assuming you're not on Leopard, as Google Notifyer crashing is a 'known issue' with OS X 10.5 and Google don't seem to be in a hurry to fix it.

Check the Google site...and forums for the apps. Do you really mean Google Desktop or one app in particular? Run the updater also...and if it is the notifyer that is the issue, you may have to wait til they fix it or use an alternative as mentioned here...

Hi Phil. Yes, I'm in OSX 10.4.11 and I got rid of Google Notifier after only a few days of use as I had major issues with it. Now it's Google Desktop playing up. Thanks for the link -I'll take take a look.

Ask a blindingly obvious question, but you've both looked at the Google Desktop help centre?

One possibility

Yes, I've looked in the GD Help Centre and also done a search in the forums where I see that other people have had the same problem. The only suggestion for fixing it was 2 yrs ago -

"I believe I have resolved my problem with GD quiting unexpectedly by checking folder access rights. I run an Admin account and a seperate User account. Some how I managed to modify my User account rights to the GD folder. GD would try to start, blink a alot and error out. After I revised the User access rights, GD returned and has been working great since !
Hope this helps someone.
Larry...

I have registered with the Google forums and will ask the question again in the hope of getting some more recent suggestions for dealing with it. And I will try Larry's suggestion as I also run an Admin account and a separate User account.
