renamed login 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Quite a long time ago when I had only had my imac for a short time I did a really silly thing and wanted to stop my adult son from getting on my apple. So I changed the password unaware it was the admin password but the thing is I forgot the new one and we were locked out. Anyway I put the install disc and resart the password but now everytime I restart or login keychain asks for verification of password of renamed login and so does mail wanting mac. I had read how to fix the problem in a copy of nzmac or maclife but am currently having trouble finding the article. Any suggestions?

Just a random shot in the dark, but it could be linked to your keychain password which is a separate entity. A fiddle with that may do something.

You might be right, however I have little knowledge about key chains. I can locate them etc but thats about all

Open Keychain Access. Open preferences, and have a play there. You might want to look at reset my keychain or possibly synchronise login keychain password with account.
Under Edit, you could change the password.

You could try, Keychain First Aid. (Apple-option-A)
Did you try, "Reset My Keychain" under Preferences, General?

I did key chain first aid but that didn't help the problem, so I reset keychain and now all is good. Thanks for your help
