Thanks...I doubt my issue is a driver problems as it is across 2 machines and 4 different printers...combination of Epson and HP.

Sorry, maybe I meant on my non-Intel iMac G5.....ie, no intel mac at home and its a G5 iMac.

Ah cool.

I thought it might have been a typo but I could only think of you possibly meaning 'new' which still would have meant the same thing!

Do you have multiple printers in list? How are they connected? Is there another printer as default (and timing out if cannot find)?

Well this is two Macs....so here goes....

iMac G5 - One printer (colour laser) connected via USB at home
MacBook Pro - One printer (greyscale laser via USB and is default) at work
- One colour laser networked at work
- One photocopier networked at work

On both machines the USB attached printer is the default. Changing this to a networked printer on the laptop has no impact.
