HTML Editing "Notepad" style 3 Months ago
Hi People, A friend of mine is trying to do HTML editing on his Girlfriend's Mac the old "notepad" or "plain-text" way. I told him to use textEdit.App but apparently this doesn't work too well. I'm somewhat new to the Mac so could anyone point me in the direction of a built-in program that would do this sort of job. There's probably a few but I don't know their names.
Thanks
Mike.

I don't use it for this, but do use it for editing code now and then....

And it's free.

In TextEdit go to Preferences then Open and Save and tick Ignore rich text commands in HTML files

Textwrangler. Or if you have the money to spend, BBEdit.

Thanks for the help folks.

I have tried TextWrangler (and suggested it to my friend) and enjoy it, additionally I have come across another editor called JEdit which some of you may find useful. I am using JEdit for all my HTML/PHP now.

There is also Smultron which I like and is 100% as well.

For more power there is the excellent Aptana which is also free and is suited to a number of web development tasks including developing iPhone web apps.
