Xp Pro SP2 only recognizing 2gb ram of 4gb 1 Year, 1 Month ago
Hello,
I got a G5 Power Mac and just installed WinXp Pro2 with Bootcamp 1.4. I got a NVidia Quadro FX4500 in there as well.
Everything running just fine, however, as OS X recognizes the full 4GB of RAM, Windows will only recognize 2GB

Is there any way to fix this?
cheers
Alfred

I think the problem is that WinXP can only handle 2Gb RAM.

The 64Bit version of Windows XP should handle more.

I doubt you're running BootCamp on a G5 PowerMac though because BootCamp can only run on Intel machines. Are you sure it's not an Intel Mac Pro?

uups, sorry u are write ... hope that wasn't a Freudian ...

of course I got a mac pro.

yeah just read into XP (32bit version)...and I guess in combination with my graphics card it doesn't really wanna recognize the 4gb.
I could get 3GB running amending the boot.ini but that doesn't really help me as I wanna be able to use the 4gb I got.

Thinking about getting Vista64bit version up and running.

Gonna open another thread for that though ... as it is a new topic ...

thanx for the hint lowededwookie

Just noticed this about the latest Parallels beta....not that I'm sure that it'll help you....

Significant improvements to CPU usage, overall performance, and memory management. Beta2 now has support for more than 4 GB of RAM for multiple virtual machines!
