Staying logged on 8 Months, 4 Weeks ago
I've been having issues lately with having to log on everytime I visit the site.

Previously to about 4 weeks ago, I pretty much was logged on continuously whenever I visited the site.

Then around 3-4 weeks ago I noticed that occasionally I needed to log in, but that I would stay logged in for a day or two on that particular computer.

NB: I do use a different computers from different locations - work & home, so I thought this might have been causing the issue.

It then seemed to get to the point where I was having to log in every day, so I began to suspect faulty cookies, so I decided to do what i always do when I have these sorts of problems - delete all the cookies for this site and start again.

Well when I did that and tried to log in again for the first time I get the following 404 error.
The requested URL /component/option,cookiecheck/return,http://www.nzmac.com// was not found on this server. And now I have to log in every time I click on my NZMac bookmark, if I have closed the page previously.

So has something broken Phil? Or is the comma between return and http supposed to be something else?

Just bringing this to your attention as it is starting to get a little tedious whenever I visit here.

Cheers

That error is more associated with a browser that has accepting cookies disabled as opposed to deleted cookis. Someone else reported it, but checked their Firefox settings and fixed it. I can recreate it if I disable cookies also on a browser and then re-enable and get the functionality back.

Try deleting cookies *AND* deleting passwords and anything in whatever your browser is that references NZMac.com. Let me know what browser you are using also.

Then tick the "remember me" link and also makes sure you say "Yes" to your web browser about saving the password.

Technically, nothing has changed on the site in the time frame you mention.

OK, so I'm using Safari Version 3.0.3 (522.12.1).

This happens on two separate computers. - This morning when I got to work, on a computer I hadn't previously deleted any cookies from, I was required to log in again. And yes I ticked the 'Remember Me' box (as I always do)

I have and have always had cookies to be accepted "only from sites I navigate to"

When I look at the cookies for NZMac the one showing my user name ( jc_name ) is set to expire in two days (Nov 1 2007)

Another one called __utmb is set to expire today at 10.17am (this changed from when I first started posting this message - seems set to half an hour)

The only other thing that I can think of that may reference NZMac is my keychain.

Are you using Leopard and if so do you have the keychain update?

There were some issues apparently.

Re:Staying logged on 8 Months, 4 Weeks ago
I am using a different internet provider as of several months ago and since then I have had to log in each day (actually each time I open Safari - if I quit and open up again 3s later I have to re log in). Same set up as Gimli. I had put it down to the different internet. I haven't fiddled with the cookies in that time.

(Just pointing out that it happens to me too - not complaining)

Same issue occurred for me. Safari 3.03b on Tiger X.4.10. There were no issues with cookie settings on the machine. It came right sometime last week.
Now updated to Leopard.

Other issue appeared on homepage

That's because it's not a legitimate link. It has to be http://www.nzmac.com/forum/ (there's no index.php file). Where did you find that link or what happened to cause it?

I seem to be able to stay logged in more easily with Safari Version 3.0.4 (5523.10) in Leopard. I knew that there was a reason for upgrading.
