If that's all you want to do, then maybe more specific software is better.... http://outerlevel.com/licensekeeper/

Or...
http://1passwd.com/

If you want to do a variety of things, then obviously the above are no good.

Have you had a look at Filemaker's Bento?

It could be used for storing serials, but as I mentioned here... http://www.nzmac.com/reviews/office/bento-1.0.html
...I don't view Bento as a database at all....but an organiser, yes.

I'd rate Filemaker as the Porsche of data bases and Bento the Ute. It is a downscaled version of Filemaker that is targeted at home use, to keep your books organized and tag all your sheep for early vaccinations... If all you want to do keep lists and you do not need relational data base features, Excel is as good as anything.

Have to disagree with that one strongly...I don't think FileMaker would even like the comparison (kinda like saying Preview is the downscaled version of iPhoto simply because they both display images). Bento's good and interesting, but it's an organiser - that bit I agree with.

Well, since Apple markets this as "Filemaker Bento" they are marketing this Kiwi as an Eagle - not me. It is as light-weight as you would want to be, and I do not see a lot of advantages to using Bento over some simple organizing you can with any spreadsheet. Filemaker itself is one of the easiest to use and intuitive relational data base applications on the market, and Bento is nowhere near that level.
