Mac Friendly Companies

Rating - Good

Pros
Using Internet Explorer 5, Westpac's internet banking setup comes up fine according to user reports. It is responsive and does what is needed without too much hassle. While not actively promoting their Mac-friendliness, their service works on old Macs (the reader did not comment how old) with no bad log outs and no slowness or warped display.

Despite the need to hunt around (see the next section below) the Mac does appear to be supported using Internet Explorer 5.

Cons
The page that mentions browser requirements mentions them in a generic way (no computer system is commented upon) how ever the link to the download of Internet Explorer points to a windows download. It's not until you hunt for further details on the browser so they actually list the types of browsers next to an operating system....and the Macintosh is listed there.

Comments
It's good that a Mac works on the system and that after a bit of hunting round, you can find that they do actually acknowledge the Mac. But that's not being Mac friendly. That's being impartial or showing no favouritism. In order for a bank to come under our concept of being Mac Friendly, they need to do a bit more.

Rating: Good (It's great that after some hunting we can see that Westpac do acknowledge Mac users and their system works. With just a little more effort, they will certainly move to an 'Excellent' rating, if not higher)
