Mac Friendly Companies
Original submission by Daniel Findlay
Pros
The HelpDesk is helpful and friendly. They claim support for Mac OS 7.5 and up (as well as Windows).
Update
Comment by Hugh Hunter - I am pleased to report very positive feedback from my experience with them. I had changed to them after being fed up with dropouts and disconnects from my original ISP. The service persons I dealt with had an immediate understanding of eMacs and were able to quickly head me in the right direction. They were knowledgeable about Mac OS 9 & OS X. Since I joined quite a few of my Apple friends have also joined Maxnet.
Cons
The Mac info on their site is useful but very out of date (no Mac OS X screenshots). The "Maxnet Installer" (which will set up your machine with the appropriate settings) is not only not available for Macintosh, but they don't tell their customers that (once again we simply assume lack of support by no mention of the Mac). Their page of useful links references the Microsoft support knowledge-base, but there is no reference to Apple's support pages.
Comments
Their network status page actually tells you when they have a problem and when it will be fixed, unlike some other companies. They also have pages that introduce people to who to use the Internet and also a list of common computing terms. It's great to see them acknowledging the Mac and supporting it. It's also really great to hear that someone there has knowledge and is able to help with Mac OS X.....but this is simply not evident from their web pages. They are out of date.
Rating: Good - Maxnet receives this rating because of positive feedback from users, however their Macintosh pages need updating and some of these simple updates could make a far more Mac-friendly site.
