I retired my beloved G4 lampshade iMac a couple of months ago because of continual freezes and spinning beachballs. Bought a new G5 iMac 2.93GHz 4GB 1TB HD, now on 10.5.8 and still lots of freezing and beachballs. Driving me nuts. Can freeze after booting, or simply trying to close any application. I have less trouble with the PC's at work at the moment. I manually download each upgrade, Safe boot, repair privileges, check disc, then reboot in safe boot, etc to install, and so on. Has made no difference. May have to do another total reinstall but its the whole reason I use Mac is for productivity and not stuffing around on the operating system. Its so flakey that I have to continually save my work. |
