Not the most exciting of stories, the release of this small (1 Mb) update is more noteable for the fact that it comes on top of the 10.3.9 update that has come in for some criticism since its release recently.
Although news sites in the States are yet to discuss the small update, the Apple website indicates the update is intended to "correct issues affecting some Java users following the installation of Mac OS X v10.3.9 Software Update."
Information concerning the update on the Apple website states....
"After updating to Mac OS X 10.3.9, some systems may have issues with Java applications and Java-enabled websites when using Safari. Safari may unexpectedly quit, and standalone Java applications may unexpectedly quit or not launch. This update resolves that issue."
The 10.3.9 has kept some Mac websites busy with frustrations caused by the java situation although personal expereince on three separate Macs have been reasonable since the installation. Whilst Apple had not acknowledged the issue until the release of this update, their reponse has been moderately prompt.
Those concerned about the issue and the update should read the detailed information provided on the Apple website...
