ILounge has a source who thinks they know what's in store for Apple in 2012. Their most reliable source kicks it off with the third generation iPad, this time with vastly improved display, but at the cost of less than a mm of thickness added. Then, their source talks about a next-generation iPhone that might have a larger display and a metal casing, possibly aluminium. Finally, the source says 2012 will be the year Apple completely redesigns their MacBook Pro lineup. We might not get a huge change away from the unibody we all know and love, but we could all do with a thinner laptop, any day of the week.
VMware 4.0 was released a while ago now, and it came with the ability to virtualise the non-Server version of Lion, along with all Server versions of Lion, Snow Leopard, and Leopard. VMware 4.1 was released not too long ago, and it silently added the ability to virtualise non-Server versions of Snow Leopard and Leopard — meaning that users needing to run Rosetta-based apps can now do so within a virtual environment.
Apple is now the second largest online retailer in the UK, coming second to a company that some of you might know as Amazon UK. Apple's success in the UK in recent times can be attributed to the online 4S pre-order frenzy that led to stock being sold in record time — and now they're second, something that household goods retailer Argos probably won't be happy about.
Apple has published a patent that describes something we might have already seen before in the form of the Twelve South PlugBug. The patent describes a power adapter able to output multiple currents simultaneously, which means one day you might be able to charge an iOS device and your Mac at the same time, from the same power adapter.
