Tim Cook got on stage and spouted some statistics about Lion. One such statistic was the number of sales (or downloads, if you prefer) that Lion has seen since launch: 6 million. That's 80% more than Snow Leopard, and brings the total number of Mac users worldwide to roughly 60 million users — not to mention making Lion Apple's best selling operating system yet.

 

Growl is a super-popular notification system for the Mac, and it has finally made it to the Mac App Store after having announced the news a little while ago. Growl 1.3 has been completely re-written from the ground up, featuring an all new notification system, but retaining compatibility with existing apps. It's  available in the Mac App Store near you for just $2.50.

 

 

According to TUAW a creative firm has named October 14th as "Steve Jobs Day", a day to honour and pay tribute to the newest member of the Apple Board. It's totally unofficial, of course, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't at least tell people about how Steve Jobs single-handedly saved a company from the brink of bankruptcy.

 

Apparently being the President of the United States has its perks — namely, being personally handed a pre-release iPad 2 by Steve Jobs himself. That's pretty cool.
