9 to 5 Mac kick off discussion on the future of the humble iPod, arguably the device that started it all. Does Apple have to kill off the iPod?
With the release of the Thunderbolt Display and all of the connection standards it unifies, Apple has posted a support article on daisy-chaining Thunderbolt displays. The really bad news is you apparently can't plug a Mini DisplayPort display into one of the Thunderbolt ports on the new Thunderbolt display without another Thunderbolt peripheral in between the two — at least, not if you want the Mini DisplayPort display to work.
That recent MacBook Pro EFI firmware update seems to have fixed most of the issues encountered by some when attempting to use the SATA port at 6Gbps speeds — the standard for SATA 3. You likely won't have any issues if you're using the standard drive that came with your Mac, but if you put in a SATA 6G compatible SSD then this is the EFI firmware update for you.
A super-fantastic tip from OS X Daily this morning, about how to enable AirDrop, even for unsupported Macs, or over an ethernet connection. It's crazy that Apple limited AirDrop to only work over wireless connections, but there's a handy command that will fix that right up.
