ImageIn news that suggests promising announcements at the MacWorld Conference and Expo in San Francisco, January 10-14 2005, it has been confirmed that Steve Jobs will be giving the keynote speech.

MWSF has often been the place at which Apple announces new software and/or hardware, and already, speculation as to Jobs's presence is beginning to filter across the internet

Many are already suggesting that the iLife product range of software will be updated. Rumours of a more advanced iPod are also out on the net, also though I'd suggest that given the recent launch of the iPod Photo, a new and more adaptable iPod released so close to that launch may not be likely.

Most probably, we'll see some revision in the G5 tower range and there is also discussion as to whether new PowerBooks will be announced. Those brave enough amongst us (not me) are speculating that we might even see the launch of a G5 PowerBook. We can only wait and see on that one.

Others hope that well see the revision of the new iMac G5, which may include built in wireless or bluetooth cards, or at least a small updating of the processor speed. As many of you will know (sorry Resellers) I've suggested for some time that waiting for an iMac G5 revision was a good thing to do....I'm hoping that San Francisco will be where it happens.

Finally, perhaps contradicting what I have said already, Apple must surely continue its focus on the digital lifestyle, so who knows what we may see.

AppleInsider recently speculated about an iPod with wireless technology based upon patent documents that it had looked at...

...which doesn't seem that far removed from what Andy Ihnatko was suggesting at his talk that I attended in Santa Clara at the O'Reilly Mac OS X Conference....

The good news is that we'll know the results of this in around about two months. The bad news is that we're not going to know the results of this for around about two months.

Let the speculation begin!
