The inaugural eXpo Conference is going to be the Mac event in 2004 for New Zealand. The eXpo Conference is a celebration of all things Macintosh.

An opportunity to learn more about the programmes you use with your Mac. Learn some new short cuts or creative ways of using your computer.

While it is focused on the Apple Mac computer platform many of the applications covered in the seminars can also run on other platforms (Adobe's Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Games, etc.) so even if you don't have a Mac, you can still get a lot out of the day. If you are thinking of purchasing an Apple computer, this is the perfect place to see what these wonderful machines are capable of.

Organised by Peter Mellow, senior lecturer at Auckland University of Technology, people attending the conference will have the opportunity to attend any of the 16 ninety minute seminars on offer with topics ranging from œComing to grips with OS X” to Final Cut Pro.

A trade show will be available to view between sessions with over 17 stands ranging from hardware (Canon, Epson, Fuji Digital) to software (Microsoft, Games from Bone Head Projects and SubRosaSoft) and service (Wired Dog).

With a boxed lunch provided as part of the reasonable registration fee and tea and coffee on tap, there is not much to do but soak up the Mac ambience all day! A room of classic Macs will be up and running with advice from Peter to œplease touch” so you can reminisce about the good old days. All registered people will receive a CD-ROM with all of the session notes on in a conference satchel. The trade show is free for anyone to view if you donÃt want to attend the conference.

At the end of the day a spot prize draw is happening with over $5000 worth of Mac gear up for grabs including a brand new eMac from Campus IT. A keynote address from Mac user Russell Brown (computer columnist, NZ Listener) kicks off the day at 9am. Major sponsors and supporters are NZ Macguide and Microsoft, along with the host AUT.

The sponsors have been so supportive of the event it has been relatively easy to fill the trade show and get gifts for the prize draw. œEveryone I talk to says NZ is crying out for an event like this, so here it is!” Peter said.
