Earlier this week I was contacted by the host of MediaShift on PBS.org. He had spotted the article mentioning NZMac.com's podcast being featured in a section on iTunes and I answered a few questions for him about that event. He has now written an article that discusses the importance to site owners and those in web-related businesses, on being listed or promoted by other sites such as iTunes and Twitter, and NZMac.com is briefly mentioned.

I'm pleased to announce that the NZMac.com podcast is currently listed within iTunes as a Featured Podcast of the Technology/Tech News section. This was a lovely thing to discover today, just after Podcast episode 25 was published and I revised the podcast's icon/image slightly (which should update in iTunes also) to add in a bit more of the 'aqua kiwi'. It's great to see the podcast get the recognition for the work that many have put into it, and I want to thank all those involved.

Welcome to version 6 of NZMac.com! Despite the obvious new look to the site, this version is more about what's "under the hood" than about the redesign. Those changes though have taken quite some time to prepare, which delayed the redesign until now. NZMac.com now runs on version 1.5 of the Joomla Content Management System and will continue to evolve over the coming months with great new features.

I'm posting this as a news item so that people on the news bulletin service will be informed. The site is to be taken offline from 6pm October 9 until (probably) late on October 12. This is to move the site to Joomla (the open source content management system that runs this site) version 1,5 and to move the site to a new design. It's going to be a fairly complex process and will see some aspects of the site hidden for a while upon the return of the site....but it's also going to be a big clean out when I do this.
