The commenting and blogging tools have been upgraded today on NZMac.com, with new functionality for users. The commenting tool has been enhanced with features allowing users to vote for comments, bookmark stories into some of the more popular social sites (Facebook included) as well as the ability to subscribe to comment threads and store a list of favourite stories to track for registered users.
The major change to the blogging tool is a revamp in how entries are put into the system. Previously users were taken to a confusing separate page to make their blog entry and had little control over the tags to associate with the story. The new version brings blog writing to within the site, whilst adding user tagging and the ability to embed video clips.
Listed below are images that show some of the new features...
The ability to vote a comment up or down (give it a score of +1 or -1) or report an abusive comment...
The ability to email a story to a friend or bookmark a story...
Registered users gain some extra features that include...
Saving the story as a favourite for ease of access later on...
A new "My comments" link in the left menu (when logged in) that gives access to your stored favourites, the comment threads that you have subscribed to and a list of the comments you have posted on stories...
New blogging features include an improved blogging interface that now appears within the site (as opposed to a separate window)...
The ability to use existing tags with blogs or (new) add your own...
And the ability to embed video clips into blog posts...

2500 characters It was set at 2000 characters, which is rather a lot. I've increased it to 2500, but really if you are wanting to write more, I'd suggest the blogging area might be better. Alternatively, if you weren't writing that much but having problems, please email me with the text and I'll have a play. Cheers, Phil |
