Site News
Over recent months NZMac.com has reached a statistical milestone....over 1,000,000 hits per month for the site! I decided to wait to until that figure appeared for at least two consecutive months before mentioning it...and the good news is that it seems to be continuing to climb. What's really great is that these results are well after the server attacks have ended, so the statistic isn't being manipulated by those bygone attacks.
Now the web master purists out there will know that web hits don't really tell you much about site in terms of the number of people using it...but it certainly does give an indication of how busy a site is. That buzy-ness is evident to me with contact from overseas, site registrations, spam (grr!) and the sites ranking within Google searches. What I can also reveal however is that the true visitor rates continue to climb, and for the past few months that rate has been around 38,500-39,500 visitors per month....a much more accurate figure than 1 million hits!
At the same time one of the things that comes apparent in times like contests, is not everyone using the site is choosing to register. That's fine...it's OK (well, we'd love you to officially join us), but I'd also like to be able to cater for those people...letting them interact a little bit more with the site.
I'm aware of forthcoming changes in some of the commercial components that are used on the site, that may allow greater involvement by non-registered users within the site....although, as a web master the formula that first springs to mind when you think that is "non registered user + interaction with site = Spam!"...so it will be managed carefully. In the meantime, I'd still encourage you to register, get involved, talking and forming groups!
Thanks again for you continued use of NZMac.com!
Cheers, Phil
