As many of you are aware, NZMac.com offers users of the site a free email account with a massive 2 GB of mail storage. This service was launched with the help of Google, who provides sites with the option of using their "Google Applications For Your Domain" (GAFYD) services. It means that I can offer you an email address that ends with "@nzmac.com", without having to invest huge sums of money to do so.

Today, Google have released new functionality to GAFYD users, in the form of their web-based Docs and Spreadsheet services...meaning you get 2 GB of email space and the ability to create web-based documents and spreadsheets....all from your NZMac.com email address account! To celebrate this fact, today I introduce "my.NZMac.com Services"

Unlike other services using a similar naming convention, the "my" term does not refer to customising the NZMac.com website itself. Instead, it refers to the ability of those with NZMac.com email addresses to customise their own services account and login page.

Those using the NZMac.com email address already will know that there are a lot of features available to you. From now on, when users with these accounts want to access them via a web page, they should use the web address http://my.nzmac.com

Let's take a look at how the my.NZMac.com Services page looks for NZMac.com email address holders...

nzmac services

  1. This is the area where users can get web access to their email, web-based documents, calendar and spreadsheets
  2. This area shows the latest forum postings and latest news items from the NZMac.com website
  3. This is a customisable area that in this example shows access to my email inbox
  4. Another customisable area, where you can have any content displayed, particularly...
  5. Google provides a variety of news feeds, Google services (weather etc) and widgets that you can choose to have displayed. You can also also add any HTML code that you want to have show in this area

These changes enhance the amount of web-based services available to NZMac.com users and I'm really happy to be able to offer them to you all. Thanks to Google!

Please read here for more information on email accounts and how to get in touch if you would like one (needed in order to be able to access the other services).
