Image  As you are aware, the aim of the NZMac.com site is to encourage participation by the users of the site.... namely, the New Zealand Macintosh community. Recently I've given companies the opportunity to support these endeavours and I'm very pleased to announce the first of what I hope will be many more opportunities for you in the future.

Thanks to the folks at Prosoft Engineering, this news item is an invite to you, to express an interest if you'd like to review their product "Drive Genius" for the site.

Featuring an easy-to-use interface, Drive Genius is packed with powerful tools such as a drive optimizer, a comprehensive repair facility for analyzing, repairing and rebuilding volumes, plus excellent testing capabilities with media surface scanning, performance benchmarking and data integrity checking. More information is available at...

Here's how the call for a reviewer works:

  • This news item is a call for community members to express an interest in completing the review (see later for what is required)
  • If you are interested, email me ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) giving me a very brief explanation about who you are, what Mac experience you have and why you think you should write the review, as well as providing your NZ postal address to confirm you are indeed an NZ Mac user
  • Once a reviewer is selected and announced, the makers of Drive Genius will be contacted and you'll be forwarded an 'NFR' copy of the software. NFR stands for "Not For Resale" and means that while the software will be yours to evaluate and keep, you'll not be entitled to sell it on to someone else at a later date.
  • Once you receive the software, you'll be asked to complete a review of 600-900 words within three weeks and forward it to NZMac.com along with 3-5 screen shots, where it will be published on the site under your name.

What kind of reviewer are we looking for?

  • Regular users of the forum, competition entrants and newsletter subscribers will be given some preference as you guys already show strong support for and contribute to NZMac.com
  • You don't have to be a published writer, but you need to show that you can write!
  • An experienced Mac user or someone who has expertise in the area that the product relates to will also receive preference

Basically you're more likely to be selected if you are known to NZMac.com, but that does not mean that favourites or heavy users of the site gain preference. Based upon the number of emails I receive, it may be that a name is simply drawn from a hat...but if you're completely new to the site and not contributing it all, you're less likely to be selected.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to post them here or contact me. Do not express interest in writing the review in this forum, but to me via email. You have until midnight Sunday March 6th, 2005 to email me (I'll be travelling around Australia during that time, so please don't panic if you don't get a reply immediately).

Many thanks to the folk at Prosoft Engineering for their contribution of the Drive Genius software and I look forward to hearing from those of you keen to review it.

Cheers,

Phil

PS... Don't panic if you miss out on the chance to review Drive Genius...we might be able to find another way for you to get hold of a copy at a later date, but more on that another time :)
