You know you've released a pretty good widget when you get people saying nothing but great things about it...and you start to see widgets appearing around the world (and on the Apple site) based upon it.
NZMac.com is pleased to announce the release of version 1.0 of the NZMac.com Widget, being mostly a few minor tweaks to the widget, rather than any substantial revision.
The NZMac.com Widget allows users of Mac OS X Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4) to
select to receive site news, forum or event feeds from the web site
that is dedicated to supporting Macintosh users in New Zealand. Feeds
automatically update at 15, 30, 45 or 60 minute intervals (and the last
time the widget checked for updated feeds is indicated on the widget)
depending on what users select.
Remember also that you are able to drag more than one copy of the
widget onto your screen, so you can have news, forums feeds and events
messages all in their own separate widget.
New in this version are:
-
Long news items are now truncated to resolve display issues (they end
in "..." if they are too long and would have run over one line)
-
Widget height has been reduced slightly
-
Creative Commons License has been added into source files
Given the positive response to the widget, there are not any plans at
this stage to drastically alter the widget further....however, feel
free to get in touch if you have suggestions.
I'm also going to slowly work my way through the book "Mac OS X
Technology Guide to Dashboard"
(www.spiderworks.com/books/dashboard.php), and if it comes up with any
new ideas, I'll be sure to include them in a new releases at some point.
Thanks again to Craig Stanton and Cian Walsh for their hard work and invaluable contribution.
The widget can be downloaded via the widget button on the main page of this site.
Cheers,
Phil
