As many of you know, the site runs on a open source content management system known as Mambo. Recently the development team split from the Mambo project (for very lengthy reasons I won't go into) and launched a new system known as Joomla.

I want to convert the site over to the first release of Joomla and thought it would be a good opportunity to give the site a little spring clean. So on Thursday night (September 29) from 9pm, I'll be closing the site down and working on it that night and the next day to get it back up and running.

At this stage my intention is to do nothing more than update the site to the Joomla system and check everything is working OK. Stay tuned though, as over the next couple of weeks I hope to launch a new contest and one other project that I'm working hard on that will be a new feature to the NZMac.com website.

After that, I'm keen to look at redesigning the site to use a new Joomla template but seriously pushed to find time. If there's a stunning web designer out there that understands Mambo/Joomla templates and wants to develop a new design for the site, I'd be forever grateful...especially if you're prepared to put up with my fussy demands.

Thanks in advance to everyone for their patience while the site is off-line and apologies as I know that RSS feeds, the NZMac.com widget etc will be affected.

I'm doing a full spring clean (including removing all files from the root of the website) so the forum and all other aspects of the site will be closed also.

Fingers crossed it all goes well and you'll see the site back up in Joomla style late in the week.

Cheers,

Phil
