Opening old AppleWorks files in OS X
Written byIf you're moving to OS X and have a whole lot of AppleWorks files you created in OS 9 or earlier, make sure you add '.cwk' to the end of the filenames. There are third-party utilities such as "A Better Finder Rename" which can help make that change for multiple files in one go. Without the extension at the end of the filename you might find it impossible to open the documents in AppleWorks under OS X.

How do I stop AppleWorks 6 from listing recent documents?
Written byIn the AppleWorks menu choose Preferences, General. In the window that appears, choose Files from the pop-up menu and untick recent documents. However, the old alias of documents will remain.
Close AppleWorks, go into your Documents folder --> AppleWorks User Data --> Starting Points --> Recent Items...and delete the files you find in there (don't worry, this won't delete your original documents).
