How do I get Microsoft Word 2004 to display clipart in documents?

In your Word Preferences under View, there is an option which says "Image Placeholders". Make sure this is unticked.

How do I make Microsoft Office display dates in d/m/y format?

Written by
Office gets its date format from from the International preferences of Mac OS X but it does not appear to accept date settings where you have customised beyond some of the default country settings and in this case, goes back to a better known country.

In the first instance then, go to System Preferences --> International --> Formats and set the country to "Australia" if you are happy with that.

Make sure you quit System Preferences at that point.

If you really do want to have the country set as New Zealand, next go back to the settings and change it to "New Zealand".

You may see the text that says "This region can only be used by Unicode applications. WorldScript applications will use the last compatible region".

What this means is that Office is falling back to the previous setting because it doesn't understand Unicode so it doesn't understand New Zealand. Because your previous setting (Australia) is now a d/m/y country this won't annoy you so much.
